Do all pc nes emulators work with any usb game controller?

I have a Logitech USB controller to my pc and I have to give someone a hard time configuring the controls to use on my NES emulator.
I have a Logitech USB controller as well and he works full with my emulator. I use Jnes, you should give that a try.

I have some game that I downloaded and it's fun but it's rough to play using a keyboard and I wonder would any usb controller be able to actions this game so I won't have to play using the keyboard?
